Grief Counseling can be as short as 1 thru 2 months and as long as several years depending upon what trauma the patient has suffered. It is the job of the bereavement specialist to analyze the circumstances surrounding the issue and then taking the client through a series of clinical steps to alleviate the pain associated with the loss. I have worked as a Funeral Administrator for Dignity Memorial and Family Funeral Care in Orlando Florida. I have also worked in Private Practice handling Schizophrenia, Domestic Violence and Suicide Prevention nervous break downs cases.

DO NOT QUIT ON YOURSELF!

With correct information and choices, a person can recover from any significant loss. Most professionals address grief from a conceptual intellectual perspective which leave clients with much understanding but little recovery. it is my job to lead the client to a completion of the pain caused by loss.

Creating helpful habits for dealing with trauma………

REMEMBER! YOUR PERSONAL SITUATION IS UNIQUE! NO EXCEPTIONS!

Grieving people want and need to be heard so it is important for the counselor to listen to the emotions being communicated by the client. Grief is a normal reaction to loss and is not pathological nor a personality disorder therefore treatment for grief in the form of psychotropic drugs can halt the normal reactions to loss. Once buried, it may be difficult to reconnect those feelings at a later date. It is best to have the client accept the naturally occurring pain caused by their loss and attempt the program of recovery by talking to a counselor.
